Introduction

As an alternative to having a separate camera PC. Adding a VM (Virtual Machine) to the Front end allows access to the BE and cameras without interrupting the operator.

Étape 1 - Check that the Hardware has been installed

  1. Install the VM Upgrade hardware VM Upgrade Hardware
  2. Check that you have at lease 12GB of memory.
  3. Check that the extra disk is present (Should be D)

Étape 2 - Add Hyper-V feature to the FE PC

Étape 3 - Add Virtual Switch

  1. Open Hyper-V Manager
  2. Select FE name on the Tree
  3. Create Virtual switch External
  4. Name Stuga Virtual Switch

Étape 4 - Add Virtual PC

  1. Open Hyper-V Manager
  2. Select FE name on the tree
  3. Create a new Virtual PC
  4. Call is X0000
  5. Locate on D:
  6. Generation 2
  7. User exiting Virtual Disk located on D:
...DO NOT START YET

  1. Remove SNAP Shots.
  2. In Processors set the cores to 4 or 8 to match the FE PC


Étape 5 - Start Virtual PC

  1. RMB start the Virtual PC
  2. RMB Open (or double click the image)
  3. Sign in with usual passwords
  4. check and install all updates
  5. Rename the PC with the same name as the FE but replace the FE with VM

Étape 6 - Activate Windows

  1. Go to the activation screen (Search activate)
  2. If not activated add the Licence code that ou have been provided with.
  3. Activate windows.

Étape 7 - TeamViewer Setup

  1. Open TeamViewer and record the ID
  2. Set the PW as per the standard rules.
  3. Rename to Match the PC name
  4. Add to the TeamViewer Lists

Étape 8 - Pull the PLC project from the target

Étape 9 - Add The PLC TwinCAT Project

Étape 10 - Change AMS NetId

The AMS Net Id needs to be set to uniquely identify the BE, FE and VM machines. See Cannot set dual TwinCAT route for full explanation and numbering convention

Étape 11 - Change Mac Address Setup

The cloning system forces the same MAC address setup onto the VM machine, which has proven to create a problem when multiple VM installations are on the same network.

To overcome this

  1. Switch the VM instance off
  2. Change the MAC address system to static
  3. Fix the IP address so that the final 2 hex couplets reflect the build number (ie Z104 becomes ......-xx-01-04)
  4. Restart the VM
